All are invited to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting for Can Shed’s brand-new Iowa City redemption center!

Can Shed is officially opening its new, modern, and clean redemption facility at 1534 S Gilbert St, Ste. 400. This marks an exciting new chapter in convenient, community-focused recycling. Guests can enjoy giveaways, refreshments, and guided tours while meeting the team that’s been working behind the scenes to make redeeming containers faster and easier for everyone.

Serving Eastern Iowa since 1997, Can Shed provides accessible container redemption and recycling services that strengthen our region’s economy and environment. Each year, Can Shed generates around $24 million in economic impact, partners with 127 (and counting) local nonprofits, and keeps 9.2 million pounds of waste out of area landfills. Their annual operations also yield enough energy savings to power 3,515 homes for a year - making it simpler for individuals, businesses, and community groups to recycle with impact.
